Britannia - three times
1. Luxury Modernity.’With British luxury ever defined by ‘wood and leather,’ this concept aims to take a fresh look at luxury. The thin but ‘C’ shaped window is shaped to control interaction between occupants and the outside world.
2. Left Field Youth.’ Britain is increasingly gripped by consumerism and youth culture. This concept focuses on representing music and downloading culture with the ability to hold performances, and display music on its’ body panels.
3. ‘Embracing Multiculturalism.’ Britain is becoming the home for an increasing number of cultures. A simple, enveloping sheet is created with image tiles representing the vast differences in cultures.

No.1. I realise this must be just an early sketch but it’s a bit boring, the project focus seems a little unimaginative as well. Have you defined what it is to be quintessentially English yet? What’s with Leather and Wood as your only design queues? A fresh look is certainly needed. What might luxury mean in 20 years time? Could it be possible to design a vehicle around the way the “English” live, or are going to live, their lives, hence releasing more innovative solutions, definitions of vehicle architecture and project territory?
No.2. & 3. These could be very interesting if combined but again the proposals sound a little forced and perhaps a little outdated. We have been massively multicultural since the 70’s in the U.K. and perhaps now we have simply grown to co-inhabit our Isle without the need for celebration or the drawing of intention to the fact we are all different. Be careful here. Also, consumerism is rife but equally accepted; the interesting part of both proposals is in understanding how we interact and maintain relationships. What is the farthest extent in which you can envisage technology and social intercourse being developed to create a truly insightful concept?
